The goal of this bachelor thesis was to simulate the radar backscatter signal based on detailed and calibrated simulations of layer-wise snow properties obtained from the model SNOWPACK. The results of the backscatter simulations are then compared to radar measurements acquired by the tower-based radar system SnowScat (9.2 - 17.8 GHz) over a time period covering 4 winter seasons.
